The ingredients to make normal bread are quite simple. Flour, Water and Yeast are the basic ingredients, and then other bits and pieces are thrown in depending on what you are making. Multi-grain bread will of course have various grains thrown into the mix as well. A lot of manufacturers sell 'bread making mix' which has everything in it except the yeast. When you go to use the bread maker all you have to do is throw in the right amount of bread making mix, along with the right amount of water and yeast and then set it to bake away. You can come back in a few hours to a nice, fresh loaf of bread.
Bread bakers have the ability to make much more than bread though. You can make jam, pizza dough, cakes and a huge range of other items as well, assuming the baker has that ability. There is a massive range of bread that you can cook as well, which have individual ingredients. For example, fruit bread has the normal flour, water and yeast, but it will have raisins and other fruit as well, which is mixed up.
A lot of people like to eat more savory bread which has dried tomatoes and olives in it, and this is just as easy to cook. You can really throw in whatever you want; it just takes a bit of experimenting and a bit of patience. I used to make dud bread loaves every now and again because of my experimenting, but you eventually work out what works and what doesn't.
